Soulfood – Roasted Pork and Lamb
The Trstenik area is also well known for its good and tasty food, mostly for meat.
Stopanja village near Trstenik, with the most pork roasters (place where pork is roasted) per capita, deservedly took the title as the roasted pork Capital.
First pork roaster started working in the 1930s and even today along the state road Krusevac-Kraljevo which passes through the village 300 meters long there are 8 pork roasters. There isn’t a more significant person from the world of sport, art or politics who hasn’t stopped by for roasted pork at “kod Petljavine” or “Stevina kafana” and who is not going to say that the best roasted pork in Serbia is in Stopanja village.
During the “Roasted Pork Festival” (“Pečenjijada”) nearly 20.000 visitors rushed to Stopanja to enjoy the smells and taste of the fresh and hot roasted pork and lamb.
